These terms are the contract for using it, in the free tier and on paid plans. Updated 2026-08-23. These terms apply to the service at blockquote.io, in the free tier as well as on the paid Pro and Agency plans. The version published here at the time you use the service applies. The provider identity, contact routes and VAT ID are in the [imprint](https://blockquote.io/imprint). ## What does Blockquote provide? Blockquote fetches publicly available URLs, evaluates them against 34 technical and editorial citation-readiness checks, and returns a score from 0 to 100 with generated recommendations. 29 of the 34 checks are deterministic measurements of markup, structured data and page structure; the remaining 5 are produced by AI language models that judge fact density, original data, direct paragraphs, pronoun clarity and quote extractability against a fixed rubric. The total weights the three check groups at **40% schema, 30% structure and 30% citability**, and the report labels AI-generated findings so you can tell which is which. That analysis, as described here, is what the contract covers. Checks that do not apply to a page are marked N/A and excluded from the score, so two pages with the same score can have a different number of applicable checks. Parts of the analysis are produced by AI language models; **the output is automated analysis, not professional advice**. It supports editorial and SEO work but does not guarantee indexing, ranking, or citation by any search engine or AI system, and **no such outcome is owed**. Each scan stores a scan record and a snapshot of the fetched HTML so that the report can be re-rendered later. ## How do accounts work? Scanning works without an account. An account is created by requesting a one-time sign-in link for your email address. You are responsible for keeping access to that mailbox secure. Accounts are for one person or organization; **sign-in links must not be shared**. ## What do the plans include and cost? The **Free** plan allows **30 scans per month** (1 in any one day), shows the first 3 full fixes, keeps your scan history, and includes no monitored URLs. A visitor with no account gets 1 full fix and no history. **Pro** costs $12 per month or $120 per year — the yearly term saves the price of two months — and adds the complete fix list and 5 monitored URLs with a digest email in any week a score moves. **Agency** costs $29 per month, raises monitoring to 25 URLs, and adds API access. Every plan carries fair-use scan ceilings, currently **200 scans per month on Pro and 500 on Agency**, with a same-day burst cap of 30 and 60 respectively. Monitored URLs re-scan weekly and do not count against those ceilings. The Agency plan's webhook callbacks are documented in the [webhook reference](https://blockquote.io/docs/webhooks). ## How does monitoring work? Monitoring re-scans your saved URLs every week and emails you a digest in any week a score moves — 5 monitored URLs on Pro, 25 on Agency. A week in which nothing changed sends no email; the scans still run and the history still fills. Monitoring is a paid-plan feature: it is not part of the Free plan, and it stops when the subscription that includes it ends. ## How do subscriptions renew and how is payment handled? Prices are end prices in US dollars with tax included; the amount shown at checkout is the amount charged. Subscriptions **renew automatically** for the same period — monthly or yearly — until cancelled. Payment, invoicing and cancellation run through [Stripe](https://stripe.com/legal/consumer), our payment provider. Cancellation and the EU right of withdrawal — the 14-day right under [§ 355 BGB](https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/bgb/__355.html) and the [Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU](https://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/dir/2011/83/oj) — are described on the [refunds page](https://blockquote.io/refunds), which forms part of these terms. ## What data does a scan process and store? A scan fetches the submitted URL the way a crawler would and processes only what the page serves publicly. Blockquote stores the scan record with its check results, a snapshot of the fetched HTML for re-rendering the report, and short-lived rate-limit counters. Details on personal data, retention and your rights are in the [privacy policy](https://blockquote.io/privacy); the submitted page content itself is treated as public material that you were entitled to have analyzed, as the acceptable-use rules below require. ## What use is acceptable? - Only submit URLs that are publicly accessible and lawful for you to analyze. - Do not use the service for abuse, interference, or automated overload. - Respect rate limits, fair-use ceilings and technical restrictions. - Do not resell raw access to the service outside the Agency plan's API terms. Accounts that repeatedly breach these rules can be suspended. Where a suspension is our decision and not caused by your breach, the unused part of a paid period is refunded. ## What availability is promised? The service is operated with reasonable care but without a guaranteed uptime figure. Maintenance, provider outages and rate limits at scanned sites can interrupt scans; rate limits also apply to anonymous scans. Generated recommendations, including JSON-LD snippets, are provided **as-is**. Review anything before you publish it. No warranty is given that the analysis is complete, uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for a particular business outcome. ## How is liability limited? Liability for **intent and gross negligence**, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act is **unlimited** as provided by law. For simple negligence, liability exists only for the breach of obligations whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place, and is then limited to the damage typical for this kind of contract and foreseeable at its conclusion. Beyond that, liability is **excluded** — in particular for lost revenue, search visibility outcomes, and the behaviour of third-party platforms. For reference: this is the three-tier structure German standard-terms law requires — the cap for simple negligence follows the case law on [§ 307 BGB](https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/bgb/__307.html), and liability under the [Product Liability Act (ProdHaftG)](https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/prodhaftg/) cannot be limited by contract. ## How can the contract be ended? You can stop using the free tier at any time; nothing renews and nothing is owed. A paid plan is cancelled in the billing portal reachable from your account: cancellation stops the next renewal, and the plan keeps working until the end of the period already paid for. The suspension rules above and the withdrawal and refund rules on the [refunds page](https://blockquote.io/refunds) are unaffected by this section. ## How can these terms and the service change? The service, its features and these terms may change as the product develops.
